It’s highly unusual to find the lead vocalist of a multi-platinum classic rock group who just wrapped up a four month summer tour playing a local gig with his own group. Nevertheless, that’s exactly what’s happening with the band, DeCarlo, live Saturday at The SC Shore Club in Tega Cay.

Formed in 2012 and based in Charlotte, DeCarlo is a rock/classic rock power trio that features Tommy DeCarlo, lead vocals/keyboards; his son Tommy DeCarlo Jr., lead guitar/keyboards along with Dan Hitz, drums.

The extraordinary factor here is that the elder DeCarlo just happens to also be the current lead vocalist (since 2007) for the legendary band Boston – the “More Than a Feeling”/“Don’t Look Back” and other top hits ensemble led by lead guitarist, songwriter Tom Scholz. DeCarlo returned at the end of July from Boston’s 2017 ‘Hyper Space Tour’ to turn right around and get together the show for DeCarlo, a popular favorite around the area.

The band specializes in songs from the ‘70s through the ‘80s, especially classic hits and rock & roll anthems, in much the same style as Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Loverboy, Styx and, of course, Boston.

Ready with their awaited return to “rock your world,” see DeCarlo Saturday at The S.C. Shore Club, 15083 Molokai Drive, Tega Cay. For show info call 803-543-3500 or go to shoreclubattegacay.com. For more on the music, visit decarlorocks.com.

Celebrate the brew

Legal Remedy Brewing will celebrate ‘three years serving’ with their second ‘Beerthday’ Party with live music, menu specialties, new brews, souvenirs plus lots more hoopla for their own special brand of throw down bash.

Touting “incredible live music performances” that run all day, the lineup includes: Walter Ego, 1 p.m.; The Eye Brows, 2:30 p.m.; Chase Warren & The Homewreckers , 4 p.m. ; The Long Canes, 5:30 p.m.; Amigo, 7 p.m. and and Motel Glory, 8:30 p.m.

I got a little more scoop on this event from area musician sdn music entrepreneur Ashley Peeples, who is associated with the bands and the venue. He said that the focus was on “mostly local bands” pointing out that “Walter Ego, and The Eyebrows are from Charlotte “Chase Warren & The Homewreckers, Motel Glory are from Rock Hill, while Amigo is from Rock Hill/Clover; and The Long Canes hail from Greenville.

This show,” Peeples continued, “will be more of a raw rock ‘n’ roll day than some of our other events. So, plan for it to get loud!” The bar and brewery area will be open for anyone wanting to get out of the sun or away from the stage.

Otherwise, look for “special beer releases” for just that day, a special food menu and more for this ‘21and Up’ party. Doors open at noon. Music runs until 10 p.m.

Join the second ‘Beerthday’ Party Saturday at Legal Remedy Brewing, 129 Oakland, Ave., Rock Hill. For more show info, call 803-24-2337 or go to legalremedybrewing.com.
