Shiloh Hill delivers an eclectic folk rock indie vibe
Longing for a much-needed blast of fresh sounds to roar in just in time for the holiday weekend? Well, wish granted with the arrival Shiloh Hill, live Friday at The Dreamchaser’s Brewery in Waxhaw.
Words describing this Greensboro-based bunch extoll their many virtues at being easy-breezy, infectious and charming while still delivering an upbeat “family-band” style that’s as welcome as a “cooling waterfall.” Influenced by Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, with some Avetts’ here and a bit of Mumford & Sons too, Shiloh Hill is tapping multiple genres while aiming deftly for an eclectic folk-rock/indie folk vibe. It’s music that’s hip enough for a danceable groove as well as some serious toe-tapping too.
Shiloh Hill features front man Nick Hofstetter, lead vocals/acoustic guitar; wife Mamie Hofstetter, lead vocals/mandolin/glockenspiel; Julian Jackson, backing vocals/banjo/electric guitar/ dobro; and Jacob Kuhn, drums/ percussion. They’re trotting out treasured folk instruments and then driving it with a rock rhythm section to conjure ditties packed with plenty of energy.
Their newest album, “Wildflower” hit the streets and the band has been pushing it along with lots of regional touring across North Carolina and Virginia and back around to this area.
Weaving stories in harmony with a fun vibe and a gutsy roots style packed with North Carolina musical tradition, hang out with Shiloh Hill Friday at The Dreamchaser’s Brewery, 115 E. North Main St., Waxhaw. For show info call 704-843-7326 or find the venue on Facebook. For more in the music, visit shilohhillmusic.com.
