Jamie Kent – live Saturday at the Rock Hill Community Theater— is not only an “Artist You Need To Know” says Rolling Stone Magazine, but he is Huffington Post’s idea of a “Must Watch Artist.” Even Fox & Friends dubbed Kent a “rising country star.” But, it’s Billboard’s appraisal that actually gets specific, calling him ‘hip,’ then touting him as a “singer and songwriter whose music is a lively passionate mix of roots rock, contemporary folk, and mature pop.”

This ‘lively mix’ of Kent’s draws from modern rockers like Jason Isbell and Kings of Leon, while paying tribute to classics including Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty to help form his Country/Americana/Rock sound. But his overall exposure to music started even earlier. Based in Nashville now, but originally from Massachusetts, Kent grew up with a rich assortment of music styles ranging from Frank Sinatra and Cab Calloway to The Beatles as well as Sly and The Family Stone.

Keeping up with his eclectic approach, Kent has been performing over 200 shows a year with a variety of national acts including The Doobie Bros, America, Foreigner, The Wood Brothers, Marc Broussard, and others. In fact, Kent is returning to Rock Hill after his opening gig with Huey Lewis & The News at the Old Town Amphitheater this past June.

Kent is joined by his band which features: Rhees Williams, bass; Dan Holmes, drums; Ryan Hommel, electric guitar/pedal steel; plus Kent, vocals/guitar. Kent’s newest album “American Mutt” debuted at 16 on the Billboard top country albums chart.

Returning to town with his “roll-the-windows-down/ soak-up-some-sun” good time sounds, catch up with Jamie Kent and opening guest Anna Cibbarelli live, 7 p.m. Saturday at The Rock Hill Community Theater, 546 South Cherry Road-Suite N, Rock Hill.
