For Nancy Wilson touring with her new band ‘it feels like the first time all over again’
Meet the band Roadcase Royale – live Sunday at the Neighborhood Theater in Charlotte. The band just released their debut album, “First Things First” and have hit the road to introduce a hard rockin’ funk ‘n’ groove sound with a saucy side of soul and R& B.
Leading this new band is a familiar fabulous fixture in rock – legendary musician Nancy Wilson. Along with sister Ann, Nancy led the multi-platinum powerhouse rock group Heart with a string of iconic hit songs: "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," and others. On top of touring and ground-breaking recording fame that began in the mid-70s, Heart subsequently was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and even have their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
With that level of high-profile success, why face the rigors of the unknown with a new group? Well, for the excitement of it, of course. Saying that “it feels like the first time all over again,” Wilson has called the venture, “an exciting and creative experience, and so effortless.”
Part of that creativity and easy thrill comes from the band’s lineup. Along with Wilson, guitar/vocals; the band is fronted by the dynamic Liv Warfield of Prince’s New Power Generation; along with Warfield’s lead guitarist Ryan Waters; and Heart alumni Dan Rothchild, bass; Ben Smith, drums; and Chris Joyner, keyboards. Each brings their own compelling skills to help create a driving rock/R&B sound.
