Alice Cooper joins Motley Crue on Final Tour
Those who love Halloween, classic monster movies, and ghoulish things all set to a classic hard rock soundtrack love Alice Cooper, live Saturday as special guest, opening Motley Crue’s Final Tour at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte.
Rattling chains and rocking brains, Cooper is the quintessential boogie man, the progenitor of theatrical horror rock fronting the original band who broke into mainstream rock with “I’m Eighteen” in 1971.
Called hard rock, shock rock, metal, even glam, the band led the charge celebrating the chills and thrills of scary rock escapism.
It’s always been a full dress, prop heavy, extravaganza haunting stages, originally luring audiences away from peace and love movement right into a nightmare masquerade.
Showmanship aside, the songs of Alice Cooper have stood the test of time, and along with the members of the original AC band finally found their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
It was long overdue for this straightforward melodic hard rock sound heavy with a bit of blues and glam to bolster dark imagery and multi-level lyrics. “School’s Out,” “I’m Eighteen,” “Billion Dollars Babies,” “Killer,” No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Poison”, “Under My Wheels,” usually find the way onto current concert song lists with a touring band that now features Cooper himself, along with Chuck Garris, bass, Tommy Henriksen, guitar; Nita Strauss, guitar; Ryan Roxie, guitar and Glen Sobel, drums.
