The true status of The Time Jumpers, featuring Vince Gill, Kenny Sears and Ranger Doug Green, has been revealed. They’re touted as one of Nashville’s “best kept secrets.”

Performing live Friday at Bundy Auditorium on the USC campus in Lancaster – this aptly named bunch brings together some of Music City’s most respected studio musicians plus a few choice artists with their revival of Western swing sounds with its jazzy throwback traits and shuffling big band style.

These Nashville cats have actually been performing together for decades – with varying membership – packing out a small club with their weekly jam sessions. A lot of their audience is made up of fellow musicians and fans who also love the jaunty, jazzy Western swing genre and dig seeing it performed by the best pickers around. It’s an insider’s festival of fun and finesse with a dedicated following, and now they’re taking it out on the road.

Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill joined The Time Jumpers in 2010, but he’s just one of the boys in the band and not there to headline. Even though he has sold 26 million albums and won 20 Grammy awards in his solo career, Gill finds his group role satisfying, saying “I’m a better musician because I play with these guys.”

As for the music, it’s “high-octane” jazz and “a lot of fun,” thanks largely to the collected talent of the musicians assembled including: Gill, electric guitar/mandolin/vocals; Jeff Taylor, accordion/vocals; Ranger Doug Green, rhythm guitar/vocals; Rick Vanaugh, drums; Brad Albin, bass; Andy Reiss, electric guitar; Paul Franklin, steel guitar; Kenny Sears, fiddle/vocals; Joe Spivey, fiddle/vocals and Larry Franklin, fiddle.

Pickin’ and a-grinnin’ up-tempo tunes, played with old-time finesse, skill and even some yodeling will be delivered by The Time Jumpers Friday at Bundy Auditorium at USC-Lancaster, 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster.
