Wash away the holiday leftovers with Disco Lemonade
Wash away the taste of turkey leftovers with a little Disco Lemonade live Friday at T-Bones on The Lake at Lake Wylie. The Disco Lemonade lineup of Scott Connor, lead vox; Justin Newman, lead guitar/back up vocals; Stephen Scoggins, guitar; Blake Cole, bass; and Eddie Chavez, drums; offers music not covered as often by area bands.
Based in High Point, DL serves up the rock/pop/grunge sounds of the 1990’s. Avoid any rush to judgment based solely on the band’s name versus music choice.
In truth, the composition of the disco genre reveals a sound a bit elaborate than most might think. The music’s melodic, rhythmic, soul-influenced, often driven by big bass, with heavy, sometimes complex delivery, and varied instrumentation. As for ‘lemonade,’ rather than just bubbly, it’s a tart versus sweet reaction found when opposites attract.
It’s fist-pumping force accented with classic rock, danceable moments, even some sing-a-long refreshment from Disco Lemonade Friday at T-Bones on the Lake, 3990 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie. Bring back the wolf
Stand back for a surge of rock ‘n’ blues fusion from Michael Wolf & D.B.A. returning Saturday to The Original Empire Pizza in Rock Hill. Wolf and company engage in an explosion of moods and sounds that dig deep into blues, blues-rock, New Orleans funk with a side of Southern soul.
Michael Wolf and D.B.A. features Michael Wolf Ingmire, vocals/guitar/harmonica; Rick Kausch, drums, along with Mark Bumgarner (former Jimmy Thackery Band member) sitting in on bass for this performance. Expect classic edge in a close-up setting.
You might have encountered Wolf Ingmire as guitarist/singer/songwriter of the Charlotte-based funk blues band Michael Wolf and the Voodoo Brothers, or during occasional appearances with the New Orleans funk tribute Gumbo Motion.
Wolf Ingmire has also made guest appearances with Bob Margolin, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Wilson Pickett, Tinsley Ellis and more. This weekend, he’ll be laying down assorted sounds in town covering Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat, Ed Sheeran, more, plus a few of his own “world class originals.’
Revel in the bluesy, ‘Big Easy’ party from Michael Wolf & D.B.A. Saturday at the Original Empire Pizza, 1415 Riverchase Blvd., Rock Hill.
