Intrepid area rocker Rayen Belchere returns to regale us with his sounds in two appearances showing his acoustice side at Hobo’s on Friday in Fort Mill and Saturday at Luke’s Sports Bar & Grill in Rock Hill.

Bouncing back and forth between Rock Hill and Hollywood, he revealed recently that he was also among those witnessing a rock music landmark event. Rayen was among the few lucky fans found at the legendary Troubadour Club in West Hollywood, Calif., for the live reunion of Guns ‘N’ Roses.

“It was amazing,” Rayen related. “I was one of 500 to see G ‘N’ R reunite after 23 years at the place where they played their first gig. Insane for a kid from Rock Hill.”

Rayen relishes all this and other musical influences, easily skipping from hard rock a la G ‘N’ R, to country legends like Hank Williams Jr., plus Cat Stevens, Motley Crue and Frank Sinatra. Calling himself “quirky,” even suggesting somewhat bizarrely to be like “the love child of Little Richard and Ric Flair,” his personality is all that and more.

He’s not afraid to mix up a spicy musical brew. As always, this Rock Hill native promises fun that’s “pretty normal, combining chill covers and originals,” adding, “it’s what I do; I’m a lifer.”

Experience the curious, clever musical mélange that is Rayen Belchere on Friday at Hobo’s, 213 Main St., Fort Mill. Call 803-548-4626 for information. On Saturday look for Rayen at Luke’s Sports Bar & Grill, 465 S. Herlong Ave., Rock Hill. Check details by calling 803-327-2701. For more on the music, visit rayenbelchere.com or Facebook.

Beach Bash

It’s Come-See-Me time in Rock Hill. One favorite of this annual event is the Beach Bash, 5:30-10 p.m. Friday featuring The Extraordinaires, live at City Hall Plaza.

Based in Hickory, this entertaining extravaganza favors “the classics and rhythm & blues” aiming at a sound filled with vocals, horns and other assorted bells/whistles for dance floor excitement.

For this musical mission, the band brings together an assortment of performers including: Amy Miller, lead vocals; Ray Tyson, vocals/lead guitar; Dave Yelverton, drums; Kevin Cosgrove, keyboard; Rusty Bunton, vocals/bass/trumpet; Mark Gaber, vocals/trumpet; Chuck Moss, vocals/trombone; Steven Foster, vocals/sax and Chase Bunton, vocals, trumpet, bass, guitar.
