Ollie Take Cover will take over live Friday at T-Bones on the Lake in Lake Wylie. No idea about who ‘Ollie’ is, or why he might be a target. But there is a five man band dedicated to a ‘one of a kind’ live music experience.

Be advised, shortening band name to OTC doesn’t make the band a bottled tonic or medicine. Still, they might cure what ails you, especially when in need of a hot rocking remedy. Be advised that side affects may occur including fun times, spontaneous dancing, high energy through exposure to favorite classic music hits.

Yes, there will be music – clearly fun rock ‘n’ roll from this Charlotte area band which features Mike Zanin, lead vocals/front man; Greg Zarpas, lead guitar; Tommy Scharf, guitar / backing vocals; Doug Kush, bass and Brian Whisnant, drums.

These are five guys who love to entertain a crowd by playing all the hits and favorites. And, while all are area residents now, they came to settle here from five different locales – New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and California.

They also all harbored another idea, to rock the world as a user friendly cover band with a definite preference for rowdy guitar-driven rock, pop and grunge. Lyrical value plays a big part too, especially where song selection is concerned.

While the range of tunes they’ve picked to cover are somewhat unusual, OTC’s musical theme is quite consistent. Most of their song list brings together the definitive anthems/rabble rouser tunes for which a long list of assorted bands are best known.

In fact, there are quite a few spot-on beloved ditties from a very tasty array of bands, some of which might not necessarily be the usual go-to cover tune or even band you might expect to encounter. ‘Enter Sandman’ from Metallica; or ‘Come Together’ by The Beatles; or even Cheap Trick’s “I Want You To Want Me’ are not surprising, but combining them with a few selections that seem to come out of left field is.

Just know that even though OTC scrambles their influences/preferences to cover a wide swath of genres, their show is all about high energy and big fun. OTC brings an interactive show with lots of production bells and whistles, determined to keep people dancing. They affectionately refer to their fans as the “Ollie Army.” Get a groove line going with Ollie Take Cover live Friday at T-Bones on the Lake, 3900 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie.
