Eddie Murphy Confirms Son Eric Welcomed Baby With Martin Lawrence's Daughter
Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy officially share a grandchild after Martin's daughter Jasmin Lawrence and Eddie's son Eric Murphy welcomed their first baby.
"They just had a baby girl," Eddie, 65, told E! News on Saturday, April 18. "They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari Skye."
Eddie, however, didn't have any advice for the new parents.
"Oh, you don't give advice like that," he quipped to the outlet. "You know, your kids don't go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you. The stuff you be saying, they don't even pay that s*** no mind. They watch and see what you do. So, I don't give a lot of advice."
Jasmin and Eric, who have not further announced their daughter's birth, announced her pregnancy via Instagram in February.
"Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift ❤️❤️❤️," they captioned their joint post.
In the accompanying maternity photos, Eric rested his head on Jasmin's baby bump in one black and white image, while Jasmin cradled her belly in some solo pictures.
Martin also shared the news via his own Instagram account at the time.
"What a blessing to start the day! My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild!" he gushed. "Watching @jasmin_lawrence and @ericmurphy777 begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me. Family is everything - and this moment is nothing less than a blessing from God. Welcome to the next generation!"
Eddie, for his part, weighed in on the prospect of Eric and Jasmin starting a family months before their pregnancy reveal.
"I'm never pushing them," he told E! News in July 2025. "It's a beautiful blessing and whenever it happens, it happens."
Jasmin is the eldest of Martin's three daughters. The Bad Boys actor shares Jasmin with ex-wife Patricia Southall as well as Iyanna and Amara with ex-wife Shamicka Gibbs.
Eric, meanwhile, is the eldest of Eddie's 10 children. Eric's mother is the Coming to America star's ex-girlfriend Paulette McNeely.
Eddie is also the father of Bria, Myles, Shayne, Zola and Bella with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell, Christian with ex-girlfriend Tamara Hood, Angel with ex-girlfriend Mel B and Izzy and Max with wife Paige Butcher.
Eric and Jasmin went public with their relationship in June 2021. The following year, she divulged how the pair met.
"My uncle actually introduced us - it wasn't even our dads," she told In Touch Weekly in 2022. "And they've done two movies together. They're friends. I don't even know, it's crazy, but we met through my uncle and, you know, we became really good friends."
She added, "Obviously, we have similar backgrounds so we understood each other on a certain level, and over time it just, you know, became more."
Eric and Jasmin announced their engagement in November 2024. The following May, Eddie confirmed the couple had tied the knot in a small church ceremony weeks earlier.
"They went off, everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them," Eddie said on The Jennifer Hudson Show, joking that Martin didn't have to pay for a "big wedding."
Eddie added of his fellow comedian, "We're in-laws."
When Martin appeared on the talk show, he shared his perspective on his and Eddie's approach to Jasmin and Eric's relationship.
"We want the best for our children," he explained. "We let them do their own thing and make their choices and stay out of their business and let them find their way."
