23 arrested in Cabarrus child support crackdown
A two-day sweep by Cabarrus County sheriff’s deputies and Kannapolis police last week resulted in the arrest of 23 suspects accused of not paying child support, authorities said.
The crackdown got its impetus from the Cabarrus County Department of Human Services’ Child Support Division, which wanted to locate subjects who had outstanding orders for arrest for nonsupport. September was declared Child Support Awareness Month by Cabarrus County commissioners.
The sweep took place Sept. 25-26.
On Sept. 25, authorities said, 27 Cabarrus County sheriff’s deputies and two Kannapolis police officers checked 58 addresses between 4 a.m. and noon. They arrested 12 people on child support warrants, and two others were served with outstanding criminal warrants, authorities said.
Two additional suspects were arrested on other criminal charges, authorities said.
On Sept. 26, authorities said, 20 sheriff’s deputies visited 52 addresses between 4 a.m. and noon. They arrested 11 people on child support warrants, according to authorities.

Mary Machowski Jaskula, 41; Jeffrey Raymond Knight, 44; Marcie Raquel Little, 45; Jonathan Eugene Mauldin, 34; Cameron Todd McCrae, 25; Travis Eugene Rogers, 44; David Brown Scercy, 34; Ronnie Lee Simmons, 40; Arvin Junior Stevenson, 36; Shanekia Roshanna Watson, 32; and Michael Angelo White, 34.
