Kathrynn Yezek

ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Kathryn Cobb Holmes Yezek, 83, of Park Pointe Village, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at River Hills Community Church, with the Rev. Bruce Jones and the Rev. Robert Young officiating, also contributing will be Paul Lattimer, chaplain at Park Point Village.

Mrs. Yezek was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Charlotte, N.C. to the late Warren G. and Fay Cobb Holmes. The family moved to Montclair, N.J. when Kathryn was an infant. She graduated from Montclair High School and Berklely Secretarial School. She was employed as a secretary at General Foods Corp., where she met and later married Milton Yezek. During their married life they lived 17 years in Battle Creek, Mich., 17 years in Stanford, Conn., 20 years in River Hills, Lake Wylie, S.C., and the remainder of her life in Park Pointe Village, Rock Hill, S.C.

Early in her life, Kathryn learned to play the violin which led her to the love of classical music. She was an avid listener of music played at the WDAV radio station. She also loved to do needle point work. Her and her children's home show examples of this talent. Under the guidance of Rev. Russ Brown, she made the paraments representing various events carried out by the River Hills Community Church during the year. Later in her life her secretarial training led to various volunteer positions at the River Hills Rescue Squad, The Planters, The Good Neighbor Pantry and the River Hills Community Church, where she was one of the original assemblers and distributors of the church koinonia. She loved to play bridge and played with Bridge for the Blind for several years.

Survivors are her husband, Milton Yezek of Park Pointe Village, Rock Hill, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Mary-Ellen Yezek of Plainville, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Bacigalupi of Lake Oswego, Oregon; two granddaughters, Harvest and Dawn; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy H. and William Maxfield of Prescott, Ariz.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, SC 29710; River Hills Emergency Squad, 4 Heritage Drive, Lake Wylie, SC or Park Pointe Village, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Clover, S.C., is serving the family of Mrs. Yezek.
