Charles McDowell

YORK -- Charles Edward McDowell, 75, of 1951 Sharon Road, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at White Oak Manor in York.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Pastor Ben Graham, Pastor Kerry Ohiser and Pastor Jerry Kincaid will be officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery, York.

A native of York, Charles McDowell was a son of the late Floyd McDowell and Viola Wright McDowell. He was a member Blessed Hope Baptist Church. He was a self employed carpenter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. .

He is survived by his wife, Margie Bailes McDowell of York; two sons, Charles Edward McDowell Jr. and Thomas E. McDowell; two daughters, Teresa Rabon and Kathy Pogue both of Gaston; one step-daughter, Debra Comer of Sharon; one step-son, Eddie Harper of York; two brothers, Robert McDowell of York and Richard McDowell of Rolling Hill, Ga.; four sisters, Betty Armstrong of Crofton, Ky., Mary Lee Kennington of Rock Hill, Jean Joy of Clover and Roberta Williams of Rock Hill; twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Bratton Funeral Home on Monday March 3, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 410 Blessed Hope Road, York, SC 29745; Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2020 Hillcrest Road, York, S.C.; and Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Bratton Funeral Home of York is serving the McDowell family.
