More jobs coming to Lancaster County
A manufacturer of custom hardwood flooring is bringing its manufacturing facility - and 50 jobs - to Lancaster County.
The state Department of Commerce and Lancaster County announced Thursday that the $5 million investment by Greyne Custom Wood Co. is expected to generate 50 new jobs over the next five years.
"Lancaster County is really an excellent fit for our company, providing us exceptional market access and a positive business environment," said chief executive Nicole C. Little. "The new facility will help us meet growing customer demand for our products."
The company is in the process of moving into the new facility, located at 9081 Northfield Drive, and expects it to be in operation by April 30.
"Recruiting high quality manufacturers to Lancaster County is a major part of our marketing strategy and Greyne's decision to locate here is very welcome news," said Lancaster County Council Chairman Rudy Carter.
Joe Taylor, state secretary of commerce, said South Carolina continues to attract new companies because of its business-friendly climate and a skilled work force. Greyne's decision to come to Lancaster County, he said, "reaffirms the importance of maintaining and strengthening those assets."
Lancaster County's unemployment rate was 18.5 percent in February - eighth-highest in the state - but Greyne is the latest in a string of companies to land there in recent months.
Defense Venture Group, a supplier of armored vehicles and security products, announced in February it would bring 220 jobs to Lancaster County over five years. That followed the arrival of Internet marketing firm Red Ventures late last year, which brought the promise of around 1,000 new jobs.
Greyne expects to begin hiring this month.
