A Lancaster man died Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in Lancaster County, troopers said.
James Plyler, 51, died at the scene, said Jennifer Collins of the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
The wreck happened around 4:40 a.m. on Riverside Road at Industrial Park Drive west of Lancaster near the Catawba River, police said. The road was blocked for several hours as coroner officials, emrgency responders and police investigated, troopers said..
The collision site is near Van Wyck in eastern Lancaster County.
Both vehicles were heading north on Riverside Road when a 2003 BMW driven by a 23-year-old Lancaster man tried to pass a GMC pickup truck driven by Plyler, said Lance Cpl. Justin Sutherland of the highway patrol. The two vehicles collided.
Plyler died after the wreck, Sutherland said. Plyler was wearing a seat belt.
No charges were filed Wednesday. The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), Sutherland said.
