Upscale Charlotte restaurant latest to close during the coronavirus pandemic
Charlotte has lost another restaurant amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Mickey & Mooch, which opened 22 years ago at the Arboretum shopping center, has closed and will not reopen there, Carmen Cousin of American Asset Corp., leasing agent for the Arboretum, said Friday.
The upscale steak and seafood restaurant on Providence Road in south Charlotte won awards from culinary publications like the Zagat Survey and Wine Spectator, according to OpenTable, an online restaurant-reservation service company that Mickey & Mooch had used.
Your Equipment Guys, a restaurant supply store, lists a restaurant liquidation online auction for Mickey & Mooch. “Name your price, everything must go,” the Sept. 9 listing said.
Auction inventory ranges from speakers and a portable stage to dining tables, barstools, and salt and pepper shakers.
The Mickey & Mooch Facebook page last posted March 20, saying, “After much research and deliberation, the decision has been made to remain closed until restaurants in North Carolina can reopen. Please stay safe and we look forward to serving you in the near future.”
Company officials did not return several requests for comment.
A second Mickey & Mooch location in Huntersville closed last year after more than two decades in Northcross shopping center off Sam Furr Road, Lake Norman Citizen reported.
