The York County Free Clinic has received a $38,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program to help provide free health care to county residents without health insurance.
“We are extremely grateful for the Walmart Foundation’s generosity,” said Kathy Grier, the clinic’s executive director. “This gift will greatly enhance our entire program of providing care from our nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses and other volunteer allied health professionals who are dedicated to their work.”
The clinic, at 410 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, provides free medical, dental and optometry services, including medications and transportation.
“It is forecasted that York County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state, will be challenged in the next 10 years to meet an exploding population with health care problems,” Grier said. “And many times that includes those residents who are without sufficient income to afford health care coverage.”
In 2014, community giving in South Carolina from Walmart stores, clubs and the Walmart Foundation totaled $31.9 million.
Clinic hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday. For details on the clinic, call 803-366-6337 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
