Eight AKA debutantes presented Saturday

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Eta Alpha Omega Chapter presented eight high school seniors, their escorts and attendants at its debutante cotillion, “Cultivating Precious Pearls,” Saturday at Baxter Hood Center.

The cotillion celebrates the culmination of various character-building, educational workshops, cultural and etiquette activities designed to develop social and personal growth and promote high scholastic and ethical standards.

The debutante cotillion allows Eta Alpha Omega Chapter to provide money for college scholarships and support various community projects.

The 2015 debutantes and their escorts were:

Mercedes Crockett Cain, daughter of Stephanie Haselrig and Whitney Cain, was escorted by Christopher Bouyer. She attends Northwestern High School.

Ivana Cameron Davis, daughter of Evette and Cedric Davis, was escorted by Jaylen Sinkler. She attends South Pointe High School.

CorShonda Latreece Johnson, daughter of Cortella and Sean Johnson, was escorted by Solomon Morrison. She attends Harding University High School in Charlotte.

Asha Elon McCorvey, daughter of Errol and Kellie McCorvey, was escorted by Yusuf Baskin Jr. She attends Nation Ford High School.

Bria Nicole McCullough, daughter of Tracy and Thomas McCullough, was escorted by Daniel Hart. She attends South Pointe High School.

Lauren Mikayla Reese, daughter of Kimberly P. Reese and Derrick Reese, was escorted by Kole Koterba. She attends Northwestern High School.

Rosalyn Simone Robinson, daughter of Sonya and James Robinson, was escorted by William Stockdale. She attends Northwestern High School.

Camaria Imani Ryan, granddaughter of Dixie Walker and daughter of Tamekia Clegg, was escorted by DeShawn Davis. She attends South Pointe High School.
