Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has shifted from whiskey to energy drinks, with the upcoming launch of MAC, which he announced on X yesterday.

While some celebrities slap their name on a subpar product, MAC energy seems legit. Details are sparse, but according to the website, the formula looks intriguing.

What is listed is as follows:

  • 200mg of Natural Caffeine
  • 2,000mg of BHB Ketones
  • 200mg of Cognizin Citicoline

200mg of caffeine is the standard amount for most energy drinks. But the other two ingredients show this isn't just your usual cookie-cutter formula.

We mentioned exogenous ketones in a previous article, and how they could be the next big thing in supplementation. Ketones are an alternative energy source, separate from your typical carbohydrates and fatty acids. The only confusion is the dose. The website says 2,000mg but Conor himself said 5,000mg in his social media post.

Regardless, it's an interesting addition to the product, showing that innovation is important to them.

Cognizin Citicoline is a naturally occurring compound found in every cell of your body. In supplement form, it is an ingredient with research showing enhanced cognitive function, memory, and focus. Other potential benefits include improved eye health and supporting neurodegenerative diseases. But again, these are preliminary.

While Conor McGregor is a polarizing figure, it's reassuring to see him put some real thought into this product. Most energy drinks are just caffeine and B vitamins, but this one has potential to make an impact in a crowded market. The website lists 5 flavors, giving consumers multiple options. We'll see if the notorious one can conquer another beverage category.
