Nick Reiner Makes Court Appearance in Los Angeles After Rob and Michele Reiner's Murders

Nick Reiner, who's been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, appeared today in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. Reiner, 32, waived his right to the 30-day preliminary period in the April 29 hearing. During his court appearance, Reiner only spoke three times to answer the judge's questions.

The presiding judge decided to postpone the next preliminary hearing to Sept. 15, when prosecutors will be able to formally charge Reiner and present all the evidence. As of writing, the prosecution is still collecting evidence. This includes the elder Reiners' autopsy reports and, as Deadline shared, "over two terabytes of data." If convicted, Reiner could get life behind bars or the death penalty.

Rob (78) and Michele Reiner (70) were found dead in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14, 2025. The day before, witnesses saw Nick and Rob get into a heated argument at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party. The elder Reiners had taken their son in, and he was staying in their guest house. Before his parents' murders, the younger Reiner "reportedly fired his psychiatrist and changed medications."

Per US Weekly: "The medical staff warned Rob and Michele not to let Nick live at home until he got his medication straightened out."

Last week, Jake Reiner, the late Reiners' eldest child, disclosed his grief journey via his Substack, sharing the precise moment he learned about their deaths:

"On the afternoon of December 14, I was in Union Station at a celebration of life for one of my best friends, Christian Anderson, who died in October. It was at that moment I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead. Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead.

The 45-minute Lyft ride from downtown to the west side was unendurable. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed. I was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened."
