Some dogs were made to be explorers and others companions. This big buddy was destined to be a dad. The Great Pyrenees in this amazing TikTok video stumbled upon some puppies and decided to take matters into his own paws. The caption explains, "When your LGD [Livestock Guardian Dog] finds abandoned puppies in the woods and adopts them as his own…." He's not giving them back!

Want to be my buddy - Parker James

Commenters were in awe of this beastie, with @Shelby exclaiming, "Awww, those babies are lucky he found them." It seems they may have been discovered by the right doggie. Amanda H added, "He protects all the babies, even the ones who aren't his." Truth. But @mardellay came from the opposite angle to win the thread, "Plot twist: He got custody." It looks like he did!

We loved this take from @Mrs Maisel, "Taking his job seriously." It's true that this breed is known for being a protector. As @dogmomTX put it, "Great Pyrs are the best dogs. Great protectors, but so gentle with defenseless things and babies. I loved mine so much. He was so smart, too. I miss my boy." Facts.

Why Great Pyrenees Are Known To Care for Animals

As so many TikTokers described, these livestock guardian dogs are big and bold but very sweet with those in their care. That's because they were bred to scare away wolves or coyotes while keeping sheep calm. As the American Kennel Club tells it, "Pyrs today are mellow companions and vigilant guardians of home and family... These steadfast guardians usually exhibit a zen-like calm, but they can quickly spring into action and move with grace and speed to meet a threat." In this case, he sprang into action to rescue the puppies who needed a forever home.

These qualities also make them fantastic caretakers of baby dogs, since they will do anything to protect the small and helpless. We hope the next video is all the little buds in training to watch over the other animals.
