A Golden Retriever Just Reunited With Her Long-Lost Bestie and Their Joy Is Pure Magic
There are never enough words to properly describe how amazing dogs are, whether with their canine friends or us. With such big hearts and the capacity to love unconditionally, they're the pinnacle of what "good" means, making friends with everyone they meet.
Winni, the Golden Retriever, has a few friends she adores, but she only sees them at the summer house, and the time apart feels like forever. Luckily, they've just reunited, and it's one sugary-sweet moment for the record books!

Second Chances - Gregory Alan Isakov
If there's only one pet content vertical allowed to saturate my feed, it will be a dog reunion every single time. Winni-who's named after New Hampshire's Lake Winnipesaukee-is so well-behaved, patiently waiting for Mom to give her permission to see her friends whom she hasn't seen in a year. This is why dogs are the perfect furry souls on Earth!

While there isn't much else revealed about the Golden Retriever or her doggy friends, the precious moment reminds me of another dog dup who recently came together. Littermates Theodore and Rosie were apart for a long time before they reconnected. Now, the rare long-haired Pit Bull siblings are inseparable.
@kingtheo_princessrosie Now they can spend the rest of their lives together. Through it all…I feel like the lucky one.

Can Dogs Really Remember Canine Friends After Time Has Passed?
It's no surprise to me that experts agree: Yes, dogs can remember their friends and places they've been years after the fact. Through associative and emotional memory, they're more than capable of recognizing faces, scents, and the happy feelings they experienced the last time they were with those people or other pets.
Dogs don't remember events or interactions through chronological memory, but by associating what happened and how it made them feel. It's the same thing with the absence of someone they care about through emotional memories.
They can even recall specific events via episodic memory. Combined with scent triggers, these scenes play out in their minds from years prior, making these reunions really special. All of this to say that Winni may have felt like she'd never see her friends again, but now that they're together, she remembers everything. It looks like this is about to be her best summer yet!
