A Former NBA Rookie of the Year Says Steph Curry is the GOAT

The debate over who is the best player in NBA history usually comes down to Michael Jordan and LeBron James. The two-man race between them often excludes a lot of other fantastic players in basketball history, and a former NBA Rookie of the Year believes Steph Curry should be in that conversation.

Michael Carter-Williams was asked by another former NBA player, Chandler Parsons, why Curry is often pigeonholded to debates surrounding the best point guards ever, but never thrown into the overall race for best player regardless of position. Carter-Williams responded by saying he fully believes Curry is part of the highest echelon of basketball players ever.

"I think he's the GOAT. I think he's changed the game. The reason why, I don't know, to be honest. I put him up with my all-time greats. I think maybe because he's had so much help... like KD went there, but all the greats have had great teams."

Curry is not just the greatest shooter ever. He has won four NBA championships, and he's risen into the top-20 for all-time scoring in the regular season. He's still playing at a high level at 38 years old and 17 years in the league.

Carter-Williams is a former Rookie of the Year in 2014 for the Philadelphia 76ers. His career was ravaged by injuries, as he only played a total of 395 regular season games. He retired from the NBA in 2024 and last played for the Orlando Magic.

NBA fans have a lot of strong opinions on the greatest of all time debate, but to hear players who were in the league give their stance gives credence to some of the online arguments. Carter-Williams was someone who played against Curry. He knows better than the average person how good Curry is.
