The Hotel Brand Behind ‘White Lotus' Is Opening Its First US Skyscraper

Plans for a new waterfront skyscraper inspired by Thai hospitality traditions-and linked to the luxury brand featured in HBO's The White Lotus-have been unveiled for Miami's Edgewater neighborhood.

Developers One Thousand Group and hospitality company Minor Hotels announced plans this week for Anantara Miami Resort & Residences, a 50‑story tower that would mark the first U.S. outpost of the Anantara luxury resort brand.

The project, rising 650 feet above Biscayne Bay, is expected to open in 2030 and would include private condominiums, resort residences and a boutique hotel.

A Thai‑Inspired Tower on Biscayne Bay

According to the team, the tower is designed as a "five‑star residential sanctuary" inspired by Anantara's origins in Thailand, blending ancient healing traditions with modern wellness concepts.

The brand's parent company, Minor Hotels, owns Thai properties that served as filming locations for Season 3 of HBO's The White Lotus.

The development is planned for a waterfront site at the convergence of Miami's Edgewater, Design District and Wynwood neighborhoods-an area the developers describe as a key gateway into the city's high‑rise district.

Developers said the tower will combine hotel, resort and residential uses, with the hotel occupying the lower levels and residences positioned above. While wellness is also at the heart of the design, including a collection of dedicated "vitality center" focused on movement, nutrition and recovery.

Design Team Behind the Project

Architecture for the tower is being led by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), in collaboration with ODP Architecture & Design, firms known for high‑profile skyscraper projects in New York, Seoul and Singapore, as well as several luxury residential towers in Miami.

The interiors are set to be designed by Patricia Urquiola, marking her first U.S. residential project, with plans to include subtle design cues inspired by Thai culture throughout.

Miami's Expanding Branded‑Residence Market

If completed, Anantara Miami Resort & Residences would join a growing number of branded luxury developments reshaping Miami's skyline, particularly along the waterfront.

One Thousand Group, the Miami‑based developer behind the project, previously delivered One Thousand Museum-the late Zaha Hadid's final residential tower-and is currently developing Villa Miami, a partnership with Major Food Group.

Sales for the Anantara project are expected to launch later this year through ONE Sotheby's International Realty.
