Golden Retriever Hilariously Keeps Watch While Mom and Dad Get Engaged
Dogs aren't just our pets; they're part of the family, so it makes total sense why you'd want to have them there for your biggest moments in life, too. Who better to celebrate with than the four-legged BFF who loves you unconditionally?
So it makes total sense to me that this couple would want their Golden Retriever, Stowe, to be there when they got engaged, but instead of soaking up the special moment with his humans, his watchdog instincts came out in full force.

The footage in this TikTok video from @stowieandjeannie is taken from the photographer's perspective, and we can see that as the moment is unfolding in that beautiful gazebo, Stowe can only focus on the person hiding in the woods with the camera.
That curious little face peeking over the stone wall is just too cute. He's taking his mission very seriously! I'm dying to know if he thought the photographer was a threat or if he just thought his parents should have privacy during this very romantic moment.
Thank goodness Stowe was around to make sure that everyone was safe while his humans got engaged. What on earth would they have done without him?

Are Golden Retrievers Protective?
When some people think of guard dogs, they think of more... intimidating breeds. With Golden Retrievers' big, goofy smiles and friendly personalities, it's hard to imagine them laying down the law.
But because they love their humans so fiercely, yes-Golden Retrievers can be pretty protective of their favorite people, even if it looks a bit different than it would for other dogs.
As Dogster points out, Golden Retrievers aren't aggressive, so they probably won't go after any intruders, but they do make excellent watchdogs, and they'll let you know if there's any danger afoot.
Of course, in this case, that danger was a photographer who had been hired to be there... but still. The dog didn't know that! It's good to know that Stowe is looking out for his humans either way!
