Calico Cat Makes Her Feelings About Mom and Dad's Late Bedtime Very Clear
Cats are big creatures of habit, and many thrive on schedules and routines that keep life as predictable as possible. When bedtime starts to creep later than usual, and they're not sure why you haven't started your routine for snooze yet, some cats are very eager to tell you just how much they hate that.
In this video, we meet a Calico cat who makes it very clear that her parents are staying up too late, that her bedtime routine is at risk of being delayed, and that she has very big feelings about it. Take a look!

TikTok user @pomelo.the.calico shared a video of an adorable Calico cat with the sweetest eyes that complement the beautiful patterns on her fur.
But you can also see that her eyes are super expressive, and you can tell very easily that she's mad. She's that silent cat mad that makes you feel really bad, but you're probably not fully grasping why. In this case, Pomelo is mad that bedtime is late.

In the comments, one person tried to clarify that Pomelo, the Calico, isn't actually mad; she's just disappointed, and for some reason, that makes a whole lot of sense, and it might actually be worse than her just being mad.
In other videos, we can see that Pomelo doesn't usually stay too mad for long; before long, she's back to her silly, playful self.

Why Cats Thrive on Routines
Pomelo is such a sweetheart, and she has every right to be frustrated and upset that her bedtime isn't when she wants it. According to experts, kitties benefit from routines, which help them feel their happiest.
Kowaliga Veterinary Care explains that cats need routine because it helps them feel in control. They cite a 2018 study from Northwestern University that showed routines give cats a sense of safety, which takes them out of "fight or flight" mode, reducing their stress and keeping them healthy.
When kitties experience stress, it can negatively affect their entire bodies. Having a predictable routine can reduce the impact of stress by helping them anticipate what is happening, so there's less to worry about and less to get anxious about.
So, while Pomelo seems like she's just being grumpy because she can't have things her way, that's not just her being silly; she's just trying to regulate.
