York County Council on Aging to issue produce coupons

The York County Council on Aging, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, will issue free $25 coupons to low income individuals age 60 and older 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the Senior Center at Highland Park, 917 Standard St., Rock Hill.

The coupons can be used buy fresh produce at local participating farmers’ markets the Oct. 15. They will be issued on a first come basis. Recipients can on get coupons once each year.

Bring ID and proof of residency in York County. Don’t arrive before 1 p.m. because there is no available seating. Applicants must meet household income eligibility limits. Information regarding the income of all household members is required to determine eligibility.

Those applying for home-bound seniors must provide a statement granting permission to submit an application on their behalf. Proof of identity and proof of income for the homebound senior must be presented at the time of application.
