Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort Review: Why It Works for a Girls Trip

The Sheraton Waikiki worked especially well for our girls trip because it delivered on the things that mattered to us:

  • A beachfront location in the middle of the action
  • Rooms with views of the beach and Diamond Head
  • A lively, adults-friendly pool scene
  • Walkability to dining, shopping and nightlife
  • A resort atmosphere that feels energetic and is well run

Sheraton Waikiki is in a Great Location

Sheraton Waikiki has one of the most convenient locations in Waikiki for a girls trip because it sits directly on Waikiki Beach and is walkable to restaurants, shopping, live music and everyday essentials. We loved being able to move from pool time to dinner to music without constantly thinking about transportation.

  • Sheraton Waikiki sits directly on Waikiki Beach.
  • Most of our plans were walkable from the hotel.
  • The Royal Hawaiian is just across the way.
  • The Royal Hawaiian entrance leads toward Dean & DeLuca and nearby shopping.
  • Target is about a five-minute walk from the hotel, which is useful for sunscreen, snacks, last-minute basics and beach gear.
  • Duke's, Wolfgang's Steakhouse and Blue Note are all just down the street.

SheBuysTravel Tip:Buying beach chairs at Target is usually much cheaper than renting them on the beach.

Rooms Have Views

A view of the beach and Diamond Head from our room made every morning feel beautifully Hawaiian. Ocean views are available from most rooms (99%) and even if some are partial, it still changes the feel of the stay.

Online reviews recommend booking floors 20 and up for the best views; we were on the 12th floor and just look at our view!

All rooms were renovated in 2023, so the furnishings still feel fresh and updated. The bathrooms have a spa-like feel and include a bidet. And for a large Waikiki resort, the elevators were impressively efficient. From the 12th floor, the longest we waited was about two minutes.

My friend and I stayed for three nights and had enough room to unpack, get ready and feel comfortable. Besides, the goal was not to spend much time in the room. There was too much to do.

A Large Resort That Feels Organized

The Sheraton Waikiki is a big resort, and it is busy. There is music, movement and a steady stream of people throughout the day. Yet the resort felt organized and polished, not chaotic. The manager's desk is right by the front desk, not hidden away in some back corner, which says a lot about how the hotel operates.

This is a high-traffic property, but it feels like a place that pays attention.

The Bonvoy Shopping Perk Is a Real Highlight

One of the most memorable surprises of the stay was the Marriott Bonvoy shopping perk.

Bonvoy members get a mini shopping spree in a designated gift shop. We filled our bags with local tea, cacao nibs, cookies and a thermal cup.

It felt thoughtful, different and genuinely appreciative rather than like a generic freebie. It was a highlight, and one we kept talking about later.

The Edge Infinity Pool: The Star of Sheraton Waikiki

The Edge infinity pool is one of the biggest draws at Sheraton Waikiki because it sits in the adults-only section and looks like it drops straight into the ocean, with dramatic views over Waikiki Beach toward Diamond Head.

  • The Edge is the resort's adults-only (over age 16) infinity pool.
  • The pool has a dramatic oceanfront view over Waikiki Beach and toward Diamond Head.
  • Chairs fill up early. We noticed chairs later became available around 3 pm.
  • Towel clerks monitor seats, but it is still smart to claim a chair as early in the morning as possible.
  • Booking a cabana is worth considering for a pool-focused day. Cabanas can sell out, so book as soon as possible.
  • Our cabana came with snacks, water and juice, which made the afternoon feel easy and elevated.
  • There is also a separate family pool behind a hedge, which helps keep the adults-only area feeling more grown-up without making the property feel divided.

RumFire Fries. That’s it. That’s the review.

RumFire is an on-site restaurant at the Sheraton Waikiki and it was one of our favorite parts of the stay.

A lot of travelers skip hotel restaurants, but that would be a miss here. The live music at RumFire gave the hotel a fun, easy rhythm all day, every day. Add ocean views, the best fries everrr (with dipping sauces), a macadamia nut fish entree, a mai tai flight and we were happy.

Their online menu has pictures for each entree and I can vouch that the meals we ate matched their images.

Do not skip dessert. Our server recommended the mango pudding and she was so right – it is refreshing, slightly sweet and genuinely delicious, the best kind of ending to a great day.

Kai Market Has the View You Want at Breakfast

We had the breakfast buffet at Kai Market on the 30th floor, and the panoramic beach views are a major part of the appeal.

The spread was plentiful, with small quiches, eggs, bacon, sausage, thick yogurt and a bread wheel filled with baked goods. It was hearty and convenient before a full day out.

My one note: I would have liked to see more local items. In Hawaii, breakfast feels like a missed opportunity if it does not offer a little more regional flavor. Or maybe I just needed guava.

Shopping On-site

There are several different types of stores in the lobby area at the Sheraton Waikiki. We checked out outfits at Angels by the Sea, Honolulu Coffee, The Cookie Corner and Baskin Robbins. The Sheraton is part of the Waikiki Collection of over 60 shops and 4 hotels, all within walking distance of each other.

Babysitting Service & Foosball On-site

A babysitting service has an office on level four, which is helpful for multigenerational trips or travelers mixing adult time with family logistics.

The resort also has free pool tables and foosball tables near Baskin-Robbins, which is a fun bonus for downtime between the pool, beach and dinner.

Resort Fees: What's Included and What's Not Included

Resort fees range from $52 to $65, depending on season. The resort fee usually includes:

  • 2 Water tumblers
  • High-speed Wi-Fi
  • Cultural activities like lei making, yoga and ukulele lessons (which is super fun!)

The resort fee does not include parking (additional $55+/day) or breakfast.

Who Sheraton Waikiki Is Best For

Sheraton Waikiki is a strong fit for travelers who want:

  • A prime Waikiki beachfront location
  • Easy walkability to restaurants, shopping and nightlife
  • Great views of the ocean and Diamond Head
  • A lively pool and resort atmosphere
  • A large hotel that still feels organized
  • Families – we saw a lot of kids of all ages

It may be less ideal for travelers looking for:

  • A quiet or boutique-style stay
  • A secluded resort away from the crowds
