‘Southern eclectic’ Flipside Restaurant opens in downtown Rock Hill
Jon Fortes, owner of the Flipside Cafe, opened his second location Thursday with nothing but word-of-mouth advertising.
Nonetheless, more that 70 patrons packed his restaurant’s downtown Rock Hill location for lunch with plates of shrimp and grits and almondine trout being the favorites.
The Flipside Restaurant is at 129 Caldwell St. in the space formerly occupied by Erin’s Restaurant, which closed in December 2013.
The space has been renovated to give it a country feel, including a new bar made out of 150-year-old barn wood, Fortes said.
The menu is larger than his Fort Mill location. “It’s a little bit of everything,” he said.
He describes the menu as “southern eclectic” with food “artfully put on the plate.”
Prices, however, are lower than one what might expect, he said, because of the affordable location.
“The same dish that would cost $36 in Charlotte is $20 here,” he said.
