Catawbas double the number of games at their NC casino. Here’s what’s you should know.
Players at the Catawba Indians’ North Carolina casino can try their luck at 500 more gaming machines beginning on Wednesday.
The Two Kings Casino Resort has now doubled the number of machines at its pre-launch facility off Interstate 85 exit 5 in Kings Mountain, casino officials said Tuesday. The casino is about 35 miles west of Charlotte.
The 500 new electronic table games include blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat.
And a private high-limit room includes personal service. Beer and wine service will begin soon, officials said.
“Our patrons (can now) play their favorite table games — all from the comfort of one seat,” Mike Ulizio, president of the Catawba Nation Gaming Authority, said in a news release. The Catawbas are based in Rock Hill, S.C.
The single-story pre-launch facility opened July 1, and the expansion work started in September.
The 24/7 facility is the first phase of the planned $273 million Two Kings Casino Resort. The Catawbas and their casino consultants said Tuesday they continue planning work on the larger permanent casino and will announce a timetable for the project “at a later date.”
New table games
At the pre-launch facility, the new electronic craps table games include “all traditional bets and proposition bets as seen on a live Craps table game,” according to the casino release.
“Internal video blackjack allows players to play at their own pace without hurry-up time,” officials said in the release.
Blackjack side bets include Lucky Lucky, 21 + 3 and Lucky Ladies, while baccarat side bets include Lucky Nines, Any Pair and Super 6.
“Roulette displays the history of the last 10 games and hot and cold numbers,” officials said.
New attached building
The new games are housed in a new building attached to the original pre-launch facility and likewise consist of prefabricated modular structures.
In all, the site now houses 954 traditional slot machines and 46 positions at four electronic table game pods in a stadium-style arrangement.
As part of the casino’s COVID-19 safety protocols, all employees must wear a mask, and guests are encouraged to as well. Disposable masks are available for guests upon entry.
