A Charlotte store owner with Fort Mill ties has plans to grow a burgeoning business scene downtown.

Tip Top Daily Market should open first quarter of this year at 105 Clebourne St. in Fort Mill. That site is just beside the Fort Mill History Museum, just off Clebourne’s intersection with Main Street. It shares parking space with numerous Main Street and Clebourne Building businesses.

Tip Top will be across Clebourne from newer businesses in The Shoppes at Clebourne and Terrier Financial Group, Good Life Organic Kitchen building.

Tip Top’s first location is in The Plaza in Charlotte. It offers natural, international and specialty foods with tap, canned or bottled beer and a variety of wines. Tip Top also has book and record stores, and hosts events.

“We specialize in fine wines and craft beer with some specialty grab-and-go groceries and snacks,” said founder Jason Michel. “We love working with small artisans whether local, regional or international and turning people on to their new favorite things or stocking their current favs.”

Michel’s stepfather owned the Fort Mill building and ran a linen service there in the 90s and early 2000s. Michel also worked there, continuing after his stepfather died. His brother and sister own the building and when the last tenant closed up shop, Michel asked about setting up shop there again.

“I founded the original location of Tip Top in Charlotte going on seven years ago now and am excited to be coming back into this building and community,” Michel said.
