Rock Hill business will lay off more than 50 workers, SC state report says
A Rock Hill company intends to lay off more than 50 workers, according to a report filed to the state workforce department.
The NFI Industries site at 845 Paragon Way has 56 jobs listed as permanent layoffs in a WARN report issued Monday. The listed layoff date in the report is Sept. 16. The company describes itself as offering “supply chain solutions” and logistics services.
Requests for comment from the company were not returned.
WARN reports are required, typically for companies with 100 or more employees, as early notice when facility closures or significant layoffs are planned. Reports include mass layoffs of 50 or more employees.
The report doesn’t list the company as a permanent closure, as it does for some facilities when an entire operation is going out of business. The distribution center site is the first WARN report issued this year for a York, Lancaster or Chester county site.
It’s the 18th report statewide this year. Together, those reports affect more than 1,700 jobs.
Recent releases from federal, state and local workforce groups show there are more companies but fewer workers in York and surrounding counties than prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. A York County Economic Development wage and benefit survey just released shows wages are up for production and manufacturing jobs across entry level, unskilled, skilled and management positions.
