Here’s where another new home subdivision could come in Lancaster County
A new zoning change could lead to more homes in western Lancaster County.
Three properties at about 20 combined acres on West Shiloh Unity Road and Williamson Farm Lane would be combined with a 150-acre property on Shiloh Unity. Century Communities and property owner William Harper applied for a needed zoning change for the smaller properties.
The county planning commission will hear the case when it meets Aug. 16.
The property is west of Charlotte Highway, just west of St. John Baptist Church. The new subdivision is Shiloh Woods. The larger property has only a sliver of road frontage on Shiloh Unity. The additional acreage would increase its frontage.
Two parcels up for rezoning on Shiloh Unity have homes on them. The Williamson Farm property is vacant. The submitted rezoning doesn’t show how many homes are anticipated or the layout for what could be a roughly 170-acre subdivision property.
The planning commission will make a recommendation for or against the zoning change. Lancaster County Council will make the final decision.
The county planning commission has two more decisions to make Aug. 16.
The Elgin Volunteer Fire Department applied to rezone less than an acre at 125 Tram Road to use it as parking, and the owner of less than an acre at 106 N. Floyd St. in Kershaw applied to rezone it — after first offering it to the town as park space — for combination with another site for residential development.
