Blacow Burger, a staple near Baxter in Fort Mill for more than a half dozen years, is closed.

The burger spot posted on its Facebook page early Tuesday morning that after seven years in Fort Mill, the restaurant is closed. Blacow thanked customers for their patronage and encouraged them to visit their South End location at 1515 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte.

Blacow offered unique craft burgers. They ranged from a Hangover Burger with egg, bacon and fries to options with Wagyu beef, goat cheese, fruit jams, kimchi, ghost pepper cheese, Korean pulled pork, teriyaki sauce and pineapple.

In addition to burgers, Charlotte locations also include sushi and cocktails.

In 2018 Blacow was named the “best burger in Charlotte” during the Moo and Brew craft beer and burger fest. That win drew many new customers for the store from the Charlotte area.

Scores of online comments both for the Blacow post and shared posts on various Fort Mill food sites expressed sadness to see Blacow go. Commenters noted the high-quality burgers there and consistently good food, some saying it was their favorite place to get a burger in the area.

York County still has a host of restaurants know for their burgers, from Burgers & Barley, Sonny’s Dutch Mill and others in Rock Hill to Hobo’s with its Fort Mill and Rock Hill locations, Eagle’s Nest or Clover Grill in Clover, Towne Tavern locations throughout the area and even food trucks like Cibi Cibi.
