Ebenezer Grill in Rock Hill makes SC's best hot dog list
The iconic Ebenezer Grill, a landmark in Rock Hill known for its “big weenie,” has been named one of the best hot dog joints in South Carolina.
The website onlyinyourstate.com recently ranked hot dog spots across the Palmetto State and listed Ebenezer Grill as No. 11.
“How can you not want to eat at a place where their slogan is, “Home of the Big Weenie?” the website asks. “But, seriously, the staff makes you feel at home when you walk into the door and the food is simply mouth-watering goodness!”
Owner Loyd Ardrey bought the business in 2003 and Ebenezer Grill quickly become a cultural icon for Rock Hill. In 2005, a thief stole the large 10-foot sign featuring a giant hot dog and the news went national. The sign was never found and eventually replaced.
The top dog list also includes Jack’s Cosmic Dogs in Mount Pleasant, which was ranked No. 1 and has been featured on Food Network, Southern Living and The View, as well as The Drive-in from Florence, Spring Mart in Darlington and Sandy’s Famous Hot Dogs in Columbia. “Hot dogs may be simple fare, but they are not to be taken lightly here in South Carolina,” the website’s writers say. “Only the best will do and these are the best!”
Ebenezer Grill is located at 1525 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for breakfast and lunch.
