Regional airline is latest low-fare carrier to add new destinations from Charlotte

A discount regional airline has added several destinations from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, with another addition starting next week.

Contour Airlines, based in Tennessee, started daily nonstop flights last week to North Central West Virginia Airport in Clarksburg, West Virginia, according to the company’s website.

Just last month, the airline added direct flights to Shenandoah Valley Airport in Virginia and Greenbrier Valley Airport in Lewisburg, West Virginia, according to Contour’s social media sites.

Bookings to yet another destination begin Wednesday, Dec. 7, to Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah, Kentucky, according to the airline’s website.

One-way standard flights booked Dec. 9 and after to Virginia and West Virginia start at $90, the website shows, while Kentucky flights start at $99. Standard flights include one free carry-on and personal item, free seat selection and one free checked bag.

Contour has three other destinations from Charlotte: Parkersburg and Beckley, West Virginia, and Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Contour first start flying out of CLT in 2018. Company officials did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

Other discount airlines add CLT destinations

Contour’s news comes just weeks after two other discount airlines announced adding several routes at Charlotte Douglas.

In November, Spirit Airlines started direct flights to LaGuardia Airport in New York City and Miami International Airport, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

Then last month, the Florida-based airline said it will add two daily, non-stop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and Nashville, Tennessee, from CLT on April 12, the Observer reported.

Also last month, low-cost carrier Sun Country Airlines said it would offer twice weekly direct flights on Mondays and Fridays to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport starting April 13..

Charlotte Douglas was one of the busiest airports in the world last year, ranked as the fifth busiest airport for arrivals and departures, according to Airports Council International 2021 preliminary rankings.
