New Lancaster homes, townhomes and business sites could grow the city. Here’s where

City of Lancaster

Lancaster could grow by more than 230 new residences, and more business.

Homes of Lancaster applied to annex almost 72 acres into the city. Red Rose Village would be a mixed-use development on U.S. 521, north of the Arrowood subdivision. The property is between West Shiloh Road and Charlotte Highway, with frontage along both. It adjoins more residential property, a recently annexed D.R. Horton site.

Plans for Red Rose Village include commercial property along Charlotte Highway. Behind them, the developer would put 62 townhomes. Another 176 homes would follow in a cluster development.

County staff calculated the potential appraised value of properties that would come in as part of the plan. That almost $112 million would represent about a quarter of the appraised value within the city now.

County land records show Homes of Lancaster bought the property for almost $2.7 million in October. It’s part of a larger, almost 79-acre property.
