American Airlines adds another daily flight from Charlotte to London. Here’s what to know

American Airlines plans to add a third daily direct flight from Charlotte to London, England, this spring.

The airline cited increased travel demand between the countries.

From April 15 to Oct. 31, the seasonal flight is scheduled to depart Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 11:30 p.m. and arrive at Heathrow Airport in London at 12:15 p.m. the next day, according to an announcement on AA.com.

The return flight will leave Heathrow at 4:55 p.m. London time and arrive in Charlotte at 8:32 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, American Airlines spokeswoman Amy Lawrence told The Charlotte Observer. If it’s 4:55 p.m. in London, the time is 11:55 a.m. in Charlotte.

The airline’s other Charlotte flights to Heathrow leave at 6:35 p.m. and 8:33 p.m.

The additional Charlotte departure is part of the largest-ever American Airlines flight schedule to London, totaling 26 daily flights from 11 North American cities, according to the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.

That schedule includes a longstanding Raleigh-Durham International Airport flight.

CLT flights restored to other European cities

American Airlines previously announced plans to restore flights this year to other European destinations from Charlotte.

In December, American Airlines said a Charlotte flight to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France, will resume June 2 and run through Sept. 5 after a several years absence. The airline also restored a flight last year to Frankfurt, Germany.

Both of those trans-Atlantic flights had been cut due to the pandemic and aircraft delivery delays, the Observer reported.
