PMC awards 2 scholarships to recent high school graduates

Piedmont Medical Center has honored two recent high school graduates with scholarships.

South Pointe High School graduate Scheele Allan Esporo has been named the fifth winner of the Nurse Betty Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes the more than 60 years of service to Piedmont Medical Center by nurse Betty Jenkins.

My motivation and my dream is to one day become a nurse, Esporo said. The idea of making an impact on peoples lives on a daily basis is an opportunity I would love.

Rock Hill High School graduate Victoria Cabrera was named the fifth winner of the Robert D. White Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes Whites more than 25 years of service to Piedmont and the community in the hospitals Emergency Medical Services Department.

Cabrera will attend Central Piedmont Community College in the fall.

My entire life, I have wanted to help people and when I took a course in EMS, I knew that was the career for me, Cabrera said.
