What’s going on? This is how Rock Hill region readers can keep up with recent projects

Editor’s note: This story and map were last updated on Oct. 31, 2023

You drive by a giant pile of dirt that was all trees the day before, and naturally you wonder. What’s going on there?

By the time land clears on major residential, commercial and industrial projects across the region, it’s likely been years in the making. Counties or municipalities debated or approved the plans. Developers committed. More often than not, especially on the big projects, The Herald wrote about it.

To help our readers stay up to date in real time, we’re publishing a new map with links to large ongoing projects. If you see dirt moving and want to know more, check the map and see if we’ve written about it. We’ll update new links as we write more stories. If we haven’t written about it, let us know.

Email jmarks@heraldonline.com with questions.

We’ve started the map with some of our more recent development stories. We’ll add to it continually as we write more. We’ll update development projects as key milestones or approvals come due. So check back often.
