A new Target is coming to Indian Land. Retail and restaurant space will follow

A new Target is coming to Indian Land.

The retailer will set up shop across World Reach Drive from the YMCA at CrossRidge. The Target is part of a four-phase development, with about 130,000 square feet of commercial development. The CrossRidge Center site is next to The Exchange at Indian Land, with its proposed Costco and Lowe’s Foods.

In all, CrossRidge is a 190-acre development along U.S. 521, Charlotte Highway. It’s just south of the state line and Ballantyne, and it’s also near key connections to Fort Mill like S.C. 160 and Dobys Bridge Road.

CrossRidge developers say the addition of Target as an anchor tenant moves the center closer to its goal of becoming a top shopping, dining and entertainment spot in the region. CrossRidge Development Chief Operating Officer Ben Cerullo said his team has been working with Lancaster County for more than a year to bring a new Target.

Combined with existing spaces like the YMCA, CrossRidge will grow to include more than 270,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space.

About 28,000 square feet should begin construction third quarter of this year. Target will anchor the site with a footprint of 147,000 square feet.

About 150,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space should open through 2026.

Plans for the Target show it off CrossRidge Boulevard and World Reach Drive, with four out-parcel retail spots and a large parking lot between the Target and Charlotte Highway.

What’s next for CrossRidge

Site plans for CrossRidge show nine tenant suites in the more than 28,000 square feet of first-phase construction. That phase will front Charlotte Highway, between the CrossRidge Event and Conference Center and CrossRidge Boulevard.

Aside from Target, the only business listed on the site plan that isn’t already operating is Serendipity Labs. That co-working company with 30 locations nationwide and in Europe — three in the Carolinas — is part of a third phase.

Seven buildings at more than 15,000 square feet make up the third phase to the west of CrossRidge Boulevard and the coming Target. It also includes an amphitheater, pedestrian plaza and water feature.

Target is one of the largest retailers in the country. The Minnesota company has almost 2,000 locations. The company lists 33 more planned stores online, including four in the Carolinas.

The only other Rock Hill region Target is in Rock Hill.

The Springsteen Road location, just off Dave Lyle Boulevard, is more than 13 miles from the coming Indian Land site. The Charlotte metro has eight Target locations including three closer to CrossRidge than the Rock Hill one. The Blakeney store is closest at seven miles away, followed by Stonecrest (9 miles) and Pineville (12 miles).
