A familiar brand is opening a new outlet store in Rock Hill. Here’s the deal
A new Goodwill outlet store will open Friday in Rock Hill, with a first-in-the-state concept for the Charlotte metro organization.
The retail store inside the 50,000-square-foot building will open at 10 a.m. at 1179 Galleria Blvd. It’s in the AXIAL Southgate 77 business park. Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont will now have 36 stores in the 18-county Charlotte metro region, including sites in Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Indian Land and Lancaster.
The new outlet store is the second location of what’s called Second Editions: A Goodwill Outlet Store. The other is on Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte.
Textiles in large bins will be sold by the pound. Clothes, shoes, purses, accessories and plush toys are $1.99 a pound. Electronics and other toys are 79 cents per pound. Books and furniture are half price compared to typical Goodwill stores.
Free coffee and doughnuts will be available for morning shoppers. The first 75 customers in line will get a shopping tote. On-site custom screen printing will be available 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on blank sweatshirts customers can buy for $10. A prize wheel will offer other giveaways on Friday.
The outlet store in Rock Hill is expected to bring 22 new jobs and $2.4 million annually in wages and sales, according to Goodwill. It also will be a transportation hub. The AXIAL site will have two buildings, including the Goodwill space, at a combined 270,000 square feet.
Like other Goodwill stores, the outlet in Rock Hill also will serve as a donation drop-off site.
