Avelo Airlines is extending its flight schedule at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport after announcing seven new routes this year.

The Houston-based low-cost carrier will continue service through next April 29 for passengers making spring travel plans. Avelo made the announcement on Thursday for services at the airport in Cabarrus County. Originally, the airline made flight plans through early January, according to spokeswoman Courtney Goff.

Flights are going to airports in Albany, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; Manchester, New Hampshire; Lakeland, Florida; Wilmington, Delaware and Rochester, New York, this fall.

The airline noted the proximity to major cities from some of its routes, such as Wilmington to Philadelphia, Manchester to Boston and Lakeland to Orlando.

Service to Lakeland is scheduled to start on Oct. 24 for flights on Thursdays and Sundays. Routes to Albany, Manchester and Hartford begin Nov. 7, for flights on Thursdays and Sundays, while Wilmington and Rochester routes start Nov. 8 for Monday and Friday flights.

This is the biggest route expansion for the airport in Concord, Avelo said in late July. It followed the airline’s announcement for service to New Haven, Connecticut in April. Service to Tweed-New Haven Airport started in May.

About Concord Regional Airport

Avelo became the third airline at the airport in Concord. The other companies offering service are Allegiant Air and Sun Country, which takes passengers to Caesars Entertainment resorts and casinos.

Allegiant Air has routes going to regions in Florida from Concord. This includes access to the Orlando/Daytona Beach, Tampa Bay, Ft. Myers and south Florida areas.

Concord’s airport is owned by the city and has one runway. It’s also used by NASCAR race teams because of its proximity to nearby Charlotte Motor Speedway. The airport was renamed in honor of former mayor Scott Padgett in 2018.
