‘Hurts us to announce’: A popular Rock Hill restaurant just said it’s closing permanently

A year after opening, Southern Hills Gastropub in Rock Hill has closed.

The restaurant posted on its Instagram and Facebook pages Monday afternoon that it’s closing and thanked customers. Over the weekend, it had closed, citing maintenance issues.

“It hurts us to announce that we are officially closing Southern Hills Gastropub,” the post said. “We deeply want to thank all our employees and wonderful regulars who help this local startup try to succeed.”

Southern Hills Gastropub was located at 2685 Celanese Road, Suite 112. A note is now posted on its door, announcing its closure.

Messages soon began pouring in, via the post. People thanked the restaurant for their support of music, said it was their favorite eatery in Rock Hill or asked for a recipe.

“The food and staff were always top notch and we enjoyed every single visit!” Stephanie Cramer commented.

Southern Hills Gastropub became a popular food spot, despite not being there long. It opened about this time last year in the Shiland Hills shopping center at the corner of Celanese and India Hook roads.

The restaurant served tapas along with burgers, seafood, sandwiches and salads. It also catered for events.
