Spirit Airlines adds six routes to major U.S. cities from Charlotte Douglas airport
Spirit Airlines is adding nonstop flights from Charlotte to “The City of Angels,” the “Motor City,” “The City of Brotherly Love” and other major cities in the U.S., the company said Monday.
The low-cost carrier will launch six routes in early May for Queen City travelers. Those destinations from Charlotte Douglas International Airport include Baltimore, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Nashville and Philadelphia. Tickets are now available for the flights.
Nonstop service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Baltimore and Detroit will launch on May 8 and will be offered four times a week.
On May 9, Spirit will start nonstop flights from CLT to Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Nashville and Philadelphia. Those routes will be offered four times a week for each city.
Charlotte passengers have embraced Spirit’s travel options, which is why more flights are starting in May, stated John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines. The additions are also coming just in time for summer vacation travel too.
“The new service also invites more Guests from across our network to discover everything the Queen City has to offer,” Kirby said.
These new and resuming routes bring Spirit’s CLT service to 16 destinations and 17 peak-day departures by this May, according to the airline.
In October, Spirit announced nonstop service between Charlotte and New Orleans. It operates five times a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Spirit began daily flights to Fort Myers, Florida from CLT on March 5. On the following day, service from Charlotte to Dallas was also added.
