A Swiss company plans to bring more than 100 jobs to Rock Hill within five years

Swiss company Schneeberger announced plans to bring more than 100 jobs to Rock Hill.

The company that manufactures custom items such as linear bearings, gear racks and mineral casting will invest $3.2 million and create new jobs within five years, according to York County Economic Development.

Schneeberger will lease a 42,000-square-foot site at 656 Red River Road.

The Rock Hill site is the first for the company in South Carolina. A part of the investment is the mineral cast production facility, which will be the company’s first in the country. Schneeberger produces items for electronics, medical device and packaging industries.

The company began in 1923. The Rock Hill site should be operational by year’s end. The region’s workforce, technical training and large population were key in drawing the company here, Schneeberger Mineralcast president and general manager George Blaha said in Monday’s announcement.

“Rock Hill’s outstanding quality of life and welcoming community make it an ideal location for our growing business,” Blaha said.
