The most expensive home sold this year, a new retail center and a new downtown museum made the latest list of million-dollar deals in the Rock Hill region.

York and Lancaster counties had 30 home sales at $1 million or more in August, according to county land records. There were 16 other property sales that hit the same mark.

The home sales include a $3.2 million property on Bramble Way in Fort Mill. The 5-bedroom home, according to recent sale listings, sits on a cul-de-sac near Baxter. It’s the most expensive home sale since November, and only the fifth home in the area to sell for $3 million or more in at least the past three years.

A North Road home in Lake Wylie sold for $2.4 million last month, and seven area homes sold for more than $1.5 million.

Retail, commercial property sales over $2M

Beyond homes, the region saw plenty of seven-figure commercial deals. They include:

  • Florida-based Eastside Equities, through a new company called Rock Hill Residential, bought the Courtyard at Highland Park apartments in Rock Hill. The $6.3 million sale on Aug. 13 includes about 150,000 square feet of apartment and storage space on more than 7 acres. The 923 Standard St. site fronts Steele and Kimbrell streets, less than a mile east of downtown.
  • A Charlotte company bought 178 acres of farmland at 1734 Hopewell Road in Rock Hill on Aug. 15 for $6.1 million. The property is east of Springdale and Vistawood roads.
  • An Idaho company bought two self storage sites on Filbert Highway on Aug. 26 for $4.3 million. A 4-acre property at 1534 Filbert Hwy. in York, a little north of Alexander Love Highway, has more than 30,000 square feet of storage. Nearly five miles north, a nearly 3-acre site at 3342 Filbert Hwy. adds about 25,000 more square feet.
  • Charlotte-based C4 Exchange Retail bought more than 6 acres at 8918 Charlotte Hwy. in Indian Land on Aug. 20 for $3.9 million. The property is part of The Exchange, set to bring a Costco warehouse store, Lowes Foods grocery store and other retailers to the Lancaster County panhandle.
  • A company involved with Oregon-based land management company Nuveen Natural Capital bought 725 acres of western York County farmland on Aug. 13 for $2.6 million. A 514-acre portion crosses Blanton Road, just north of McConnells Highway. A 211-acre property crosses Scenic View Road, between Howells Ferry Road and Irene Bridge Highway.
  • An Arizona company bought an Indian Land gas station and carwash near the intersection of Charlotte Highway and Dobys Bridge Road. The 4138 Dobys Bridge Road sale on Aug. 6 for $2.5 million includes more than 5,600 combined square feet of space on 2 acres.
  • Stretford End in Charleston bought commercial sites at 2583 Kershaw Camden Hwy. and 2583 Kershaw Camden Highway in Lancaster County on Aug. 14 for $2.5 million. They include 8,000 square feet of commercial space built in 1948.
  • Alliance Education in Denver, North Carolina, bought more than 26 acres on Harrisburg Road in Indian Land for $2.1 million. The Aug. 28 deal is part of a plan to put a charter school at 11774 Harrisburg Road.
  • Two Sharon homes on a pond, sitting on about 140 acres, sold on Aug. 22 for $2 million. The sale between private owners includes a nearly 3,900-square-foot home built in 2001, a nearly 2,200-square-foot home built in 2003 and a separate 25-acre piece of farmland. All of them are located on Highway 97.
  • Homebuilder Taylor Morrison bought 11 Indian Land properties as part of a new subdivision on Sugar Creek Road. The Aug. 21 sale went for $2 million.

Properties over $1M around Rock Hill region

  • An Arizona company bought four properties in the Lake Wylie Business Centre on Aug. 26 for $1.7 million. Four office condos, near the Three Points intersection of S.C. 49, 274 and 557, combine for more than 5,000 square feet. Several companies operate out of the business center, including the Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce.
  • A Charlotte company bought nearly 12 acres at 1125 Wylie Falls Lane in Lake Wylie on Aug. 5 for $1.6 million. The property is used for boat and other storage near the Handsmill neighborhood.
  • Shore Family Holdings in York bought two downtown Rock Hill properties on Hampton Street for $1.4 million. The Aug. 6 sale for nearly 30,000 square feet of retail space is part of a new museum and gift shop plan by well-known York County artist Jim Shore.
  • York-based MEH Properties bought 3,600 square feet of Rock Hill office space on Aug. 7 for $1.4 million. The 2121 Ebenezer Road, suite 103 property on nearly 2 acres was built in 1999.
