Historic Rock Hill property sells for $1M, among a dozen million-dollar deals
An historic Rock Hill homestead, an early 20th century home and multiple 8,000-square-foot homes sold last month for $1 million or more across the Rock Hill region.
A home on McConnells Highway that was built in 1811 sold for $1 million. Cherry Farms bought the 53-acre site with the Roach-Roddey home on it, named for past residents. The home was placed under a conservation easement a decade ago.
A separate deal in Rock Hill involves a 1919 Rock Hill home on Aiken Avenue, while a Joslin Pointe home in Rock Hill sold for a November region-high $2.8 million, according to county land records. Fort Mill had the only other $2 million sale, for a Bessbrook Road home.

Million-dollar commercial property sales
Apart from homes, the region saw several land and business sales in November at $1 million or more. Many involve vacant land. They include:
- A Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, company bought two Clover properties listed as farm land on Nov. 12 for $4.5 million. They combine for 100 acres. PlJS Properties purchased the properties that sit on the west side of S.C. 55, east of Hambright Road just south of Clover Middle School.
- Texas-based Forestar Group Real Estate bought 118 acres in Lancaster on Nov. 19 for $4.3 million. Springland, Inc. sold the property. The site covers most of the east side of U.S. 521 Bypass between Pageland Highway and Flat Creek Road. Forestar is the company looking to add nearly 1,000 homes in Lancaster.
- A private owner bought 21 acres of Lake Wylie farm land on Nov. 20 for $2.3 million. The 1033 Brandon Road site is east of Kendrick Road, near the North Carolina state line.
- Homebuilder Taylor Morrison bought 11 Lancaster County home sites on Nov. 17 for $1.9 million. They’re on Baker Creek Avenue, Indigo Branch Road and Sugar Creek Road, all off Harrisburg Road.
- Michigan company ODW Management bought nearly 2 acres of vacant commercial property on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. The Nov. 18 deal for $1.5 million involves former Sam’s Mart property at 2875 Cherry Road. That’s about half a mile west of the Catawba River.
- Weddington, North Carolina-based Premier Land Holdings bought 174 acres in Lancaster County on Nov. 12 for $1.4 million. The property south of Bethel Boat Road is west of Great Falls Highway, southwest of the city of Lancaster.
- The Texaco gas station at McConnells Highway and S.C. 324 sold on Nov. 12 for $1 million. The 4,200-square-foot convenience store at 3700 McConnells Hwy. was built in 1995.
