Newest Charlotte apartment tower opens, part of a $700M complex near South End

What building boasts a Michelin-recommended steakhouse, a local coffee shop, views of uptown and South End and two pickleball courts?

The Vivian at Queensbridge Collective is the first tower of the more than $700 million, skyline-defining mixed-use project on the edges of uptown and South End. A second tower also is going up at the site.

The first tenants at the Vivian moved in this month. The development at 1111 S. Tryon St. celebrated the opening of the 42-story residential tower, The Vivian, last week.

The tower has 409 apartments, from studios to three-bedrooms ranging from 558 to 2,180 square feet. Prices are listed between $2,100 and $7,700, according to the apartment’s website.

Amenities include pickleball courts, bowling and virtual golf, along with the 42nd-floor pool.

The 10th floor also will be home to Guard and Grace, the Denver-based Michelin-recommended steakhouse. Night Swim Coffee will be in the lobby of The Vivian.

The Vivian at Queensbridge Collective’s residential tower residents began moving into the 42-story tower in February. The tower is just the first of the over $700 million, skyline-defining mixed-use project on the edges of uptown and South End.

About Queensbridge Collective in Charlotte

Queensbridge Collective sits on about 2.75 acres at the former locations of Midnight Diner and Uptown Cabaret.

While the residential tower is complete, developer Riverside Investment & Development is working on the 43-story second tower, which should open next year.

The second tower was always going to focus on office space but with increased interest, Riverside upped the amount of office space the tower will have to offer. At completion, it will have over 400,000 square feet of office space and 304 apartments.

Charlotte-based lawyers with Moore and Van Allen PLLC will anchor the tower, using nine floors and 206,000 square feet at the top of the building.

In December, accounting giant EY, formerly Ernst & Young LLP, signed a long-term lease to take up over 45,000 square feet of the tower. In November, Charlotte-based Pamlico Capital announced it would lease almost 22,900 square feet at the tower.

And last October, global insurance and financial services company Pacific Life said it would invest $12.3 million to open a Charlotte office. It chose Queensbridge as its Charlotte headquarters and will occupy three floors at 68,000 square feet.
