This Fort Mill high school is getting a Chipotle restaurant right beside it
A Chipotle restaurant is coming to Fort Mill, right across from Catawba Ridge High School.
Charlotte developer Aston now lists Chipotle as a tenant for the Catawba Ridge Market shopping center. The Harris Teeter-anchored development under construction on Fort Mill Parkway already has plans for a Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Fifth Third Bank and Harris Teeter fuel center.
The developer is targeting a spring 2027 opening for the shopping center, and plans to open the retail area where Chipotle is scheduled to go at the same time as Harris Teeter.
Chipotle will go in a nearly 2,500-square-foot space facing Fort Mill Parkway, across the main parking lot from Harris Teeter. It’s a corner spot in a strip shopping area.
A Mexican grill concept known for its bowls, burritos and quesadillas, Chipotle opened more than 330 stores last year. The restaurant, like Chick-fil-A in the same shopping center, is particularly popular with teens.
Catawba Ridge High School is just across Fort Mill Parkway from the shopping center, while Forest Creek and Banks Trail middle schools aren’t much farther.
Chick-fil-A just received its appearance review from the Fort Mill Planning Commission, a key step before construction starts. Work is already underway on the Harris Teeter and land is cleared for outparcel spaces in the shopping center.
Chipotle has 54 South Carolina locations. There’s one on S.C. 160 West in Fort Mill, near Tega Cay, along with two each in Rock Hill and Indian Land. Lake Wylie has one, too.
